I picked up a delightful, inspiring and moving booklet at the Stroke of Genius art exhibition in Bath (see "News") featuring stories of remarkable people who have overcome the devastating effects of stroke. It is called "My Stroke Victory" and can be downloaded at http://www.stroke.org.uk/mystrokevictory .
Clare, pictured opposite with her daughter Caitlin, cites her great achievement as being able to hold Caitlin's hand. Other contributors have achieved new heights in sport, art and journalism following their strokes.

Karipbek Kuyukov - Art from the Heart

Picture
Karipbek Kuyukov is an artist and activist from Kasakhstan who was born without arms due to extensive nuclear testing close to his home village. He paints using his mouth and feet, and his art is both moving and inspiring (see below).
I met Karipbek at the Global Conference on the Humanitarian Effects of Nuclear Weapons in Oslo earlier this month (March 3rd) and talked with him and his interpreter, Artur, about his art, some of which was exhibited there. The exhibition was entitled "I have only my heart to hold you".
Below is a taster of his art work, and more can be seen here. To read an interview in which Karipbek tells his story, click here
Karipbek is Honorary Ambassador of The Atom Project (http://www.theatomproject.org/en/)
